A Lower-Level Suite, Reimagined for Everyday Living
Five spaces on the lower level of a family home, taken from dated and disconnected to open, bright, and built for how the family really lives.
Kitchenette
The Challenge
Transform a cramped, enclosed kitchenette that blocked natural light and outdoor views into a functional, open-concept kitchen with full-size appliances, ample storage, and seating.
The Solution
By replacing the dividing wall with a structural beam and support post, we opened the kitchen to the living and dining areas. A waterfall island, custom pantry, redesigned cabinetry, and continuous flooring maximize function and storage while allowing natural light and outdoor views to become part of the space.
Living and Dining Area
The Challenge
Transform an outdated, poorly defined living area into functional living and dining spaces while improving circulation, durability, and views to the outdoors.
The Solution
We reconfigured the room with dedicated living and dining zones, a new TV niche, interior access to the office and laundry areas, and added pool-friendly water-resistant flooring. Thoughtful furniture placement maintains an open, cohesive feel while orienting both spaces toward the outdoor views.
Primary Bath
The Challenge
Expand an undersized primary bath and solve inadequate closet storage while creating a more functional suite for two.
The Solution
By thoughtfully reallocating space from an adjacent oversized bedroom, we created a larger primary bath with a dual vanity, spacious walk-in shower, improved lighting, and a new custom-organized walk-in closet.
Primary Bedroom
The Challenge
Refresh a compact primary bedroom and accommodate a king-size bed without overwhelming the space.
The Solution
A light, neutral palette, reflective closet doors, light-filtering window treatments, and thoughtfully scaled furnishings visually opened the room while creating a serene and comfortable primary retreat.
Office and Laundry Room
The Challenge
An underutilized pottery workspace on the lower level was accessible only from an exterior rear entrance and disconnected from the home's main living areas. The homeowners wanted to make better use of the space while adding much-needed functionality.
The Solution
We transformed the open area into two dedicated spaces: a private home office and a fully functional laundry room with additional pool towel storage. New interior access connects the spaces to the main living area, while doors at each end provide privacy and convenient access from both inside and outside the home.
